PRODUCT TEAM
Junior Buyer & Merchandiser - Footwear - Posted 17.04.13
£35,000 per annum depending on experience
We are looking to recruit a full-time Junior Buyer & Merchandiser to specialise on our footwear collection. This is a superb opportunity to be a part of a business that is growing and to shape that growth and take real ownership for a section that derives from the heritage of this British brand.
Reporting in to the Merchandiser,and working closely with buying & design teams, you will be responsible for.
Key accountabilities for this role include:

• Devise, launch and deliver a footwear collection in line with the business planning calendar and critical path working closely with the Footwear Designer to predict future trends and buying patterns

• In conjunction with other relevant stakeholders and Directors, deliver a product, pricing and margin strategy that fits with the brand image and supports the long term strategy of the business. Evaluate the competitive ranges to assist strategic decision making

• Buy and source ranges that reflect the brand identity and ethos, whilst also testing new initiatives and ranges that will deliver future growth of the business
-
• Plan catalogue pages and website layout in alignment with marketing plans and merchandise strategies. Partner closely with creative/marketing teams to ensure the strategic delivery of catalogues and web strategies

• Ensure responsibility and management of total footwear inventory levels throughout the supply chain. Plan and manage ranges at the appropriate service levels to ensure availability remains optimised throughout the product lifecycle.

• Partner with in-house Factory manager to effectively plan and manage the flow of the in house production. Develop product opportunities for future growth of in-house production using competitor and market knowledge

• Review real supply and demand results and adapt product optimums and flows to maximize sales opportunities and minimise markdown/added costs. Regularly review and set strategic key performance indicators with Directors (e.g. sales, discount and sell through rates). Monitor slow sellers, and take action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary

• Produce management information to enable decision making in other functions, including Finance and Operations

• Attend trade fairs, in the UK and overseas, to select and assemble new collections of products. Forge and foster excellent working relationships with the existing supply base to deliver increased flexibility, reduced lead-time and negotiate increased margin

• Regularly review footwear supplier performance and source new footwear suppliers for future products

• Analyse consumer patterns of buying and control the flow of stock and predict future trends and buying patterns

• Develop and coach junior staff
Who we're looking for:
-
• An experienced assistant merchandiser or junior merchandiser who has previoulsy worked in a buying capactiry and is looking for a stimulating role
-
• Initiative, enthusiasm, and the ability to multi task
-
• Analytical skills with a strategic product focussed mind to build a competitive range
-
• Have a solid understanding and use of a WSSI and a proven capacity for production planning
-
• Footwear own brand experience to be a part of growing these areas to be a larger proportion of the business
-
• A self-starter who ideally has an understanding of online / catalogue retail
-
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships with suppliers

• Be a good negotiator and enjoy dealing with people, whether by phone or in person
