Changing into ladies slippers and comfortable clothes may be a wise move after a hard day at work.
According to Ann McCracken, chair of the International Stress Management Association UK, many employees are reporting they feel stressed in their jobs.
She says: "Anecdotally […] our members have noticed that they are meeting and working with more people concerned about work."
Her comments follow research by Slumberland, which found 69 per cent of adults have difficulty falling asleep because of problems in their jobs.
And these concerns have been heightened in recent years due to the credit crunch and recession, according to half of those surveyed.
Ms McCracken says everybody reacts differently to pressure and these responses tend to be "very personal to individuals".
Returning from work and relaxing in comfortable clothing and footwear may help some women calm down after a particularly difficult day.
Males are also experiencing stress, as a report from Medicash published earlier this year found 20 per cent of men have taken two sick days in the past month because of this problem.
