15/01/2010
The "ubiquitous" sheepskin style boot has flooded the streets of Britain recently, it has been claimed.
According to Claire Coleman, writing for the Daily Mail, sales of the sheepskin style boot have rocketed by people "in the hope of keeping their feet warm and their bodies upright in the treacherous conditions".
She stated that sheepskin style boots are a celebrity favourite and the rest of the nation are rapidly following suit.
Lily Allen, Kate Moss and Jennifer Aniston were all pictured by the publication heading out in sheepskin style boots.
Moss chose an ankle-length cream pair to wear with skinny jeans, a warm black coat and pale coloured gloves.
World War I pilots would wear sheepskin to avoid frostbite, it was claimed.
During the 1960s and 1970s the material became fashionable and practical - particularly among Australian surfers.
Ms Coleman wrote that sheepskin boots would keep surfers' feet warm as they emerged from the cold sea.
Jessica Simpson is another celebrity who is an avid fan of sheepskin style boots and was spotted last week wearing a beige pair in New York.
