According to the Daily Telegraph, founder of the Intentional Resting method Dan Howard believes people need to make a greater effort to de-stress.
And so-called intentional resting can help as it involves focusing on areas of the body that are tense, with an aim to regain strength.
The publication explains thousands of people have taken up the practice introduced by Mr Howard and have discovered ways to unwind.
"People are not taught how to rest any more," the expert is quoted as saying, with busy lives often responsible for this problem, he adds.
In order to feel comfortable while trying these techniques, women may find wearing their ladies slippers allows their bodies to relax.
