05/01/2010
Bright scarves can cheer up an outfit and add life to otherwise ageing black clothes, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper today (January 5th) advised that, while it may flatter the figure, wrinkles, bags and dark lines can be highlighted when a woman dresses in an all-black outfit.
Colourist Jules Standish said this effect "can be tempered by a splash of colour around the neck" such as a scarf or chunky jewellery.
Black worn against British women's faces can be ageing and may lead to feelings of self-consciousness.
This is due to the skin tone of many UK women being "warm" and containing colours such as yellow and gold.
One in five, however, have "winter" skin tones and can suit black against their faces because complexions are cooler, Ms Standish advised.
The Soko states that other good colours for winter tones are red, navy blue and hot pink.
Finding a flattering shade to wear can instantly change skin and appearance, it says.
