Knitwear is a 'key transitional item for spring'

Knitwear could be the perfect item to have in a wardrobe during the transition from winter to spring.

According to one fashion writer, knitted cardigans are a particularly good staple piece.

Lightweight boyfriend cardigans will be a hit among the fashion-conscious this spring, the Seattle Times revealed.

Toying between masculine and feminine trends is a great way for women to find inspiration for their outfits, which can be a difficult feat at this time of year.

Other than the knitwear, jeans are tipped as an item to have as the nights get longer and the days warm up.

Skinny jeans and leggings are ideal to combine with long knitted cardigans or jumpers. Another popular way to wear the trousers is to tuck them into sheepskin style boots and team with a T-shirt.

When the weather is relatively unreliable, it can be a good idea to put together an outfit with a range of layers. That way, if it does start to snow again - like it has done this week - it is easy to keep warm and cosy by popping on another layer.
