A ladies cashmere jumper may become a key piece for women this winter as the fashion world moves towards a classy, timeless look.
Robin Givhan, in an article for the Washington Post also published by the Toronto Star, noted that six months ago it was unlikely "anyone but the most devoted fashion aficionados [were] really paying attention to joyful talk of cashmere and wool".
However, designers have anticipated a demand for clothes that have a "more sophisticated and polished sensibility" and produced items for the winter season that are influenced by "grown-ups" rather than teenagers or rock stars.
Ms Givhan noted the sudden change was unexpected and should be welcomed, especially as it remains to be seen whether the fashion world will continue to follow this trend into spring 2011.
Stephanie Holding of the Daily Mail recently urged women to opt for winter clothing in camel, explaining the shade is likely to be popular during the colder months.
