Ladies cashmere jumpers may help over-50s feel great

A ladies cashmere jumper could become a key piece for over-50s who want to look fashionable yet age-appropriate.

Ceri Wheeldon, editor of Fabafterfifty.com, explains the best approach for such women is to invest in "well-tailored" clothes that are a good fit.

She says: "If you are trying to look younger you can't necessarily go for a low-cut top and a short skirt."

Instead, opt for something more flattering, such as a top with three-quarter length sleeves, Ms Wheeldon suggests.

A ladies cashmere jumper might be ideal for this trend, particularly if it is paired with well-cut tailored trousers.

The expert reveals there are plenty of options out there for older women, although it sometimes takes a bit of confidence to enter shops where younger consumers also purchase clothes.

Her comments follow reports that Giles Deacon used a 71-year-old model to represent his designs at London Fashion Week - suggesting a more classic appearance can be just as trendy as youthful looks.
