Layer with ladies cashmere jumpers this autumn

Layering a ladies cashmere jumper with other items of knitwear could be a key trend this season.

According to an article in the Independent, it is perfectly acceptable to curl up indoors wearing comfortable clothing and "attempting to hibernate".

It states: "One of the biggest trends around for autumn is layering, playing with proportions and looking a bit, well, baggy."

This comes in direct contrast to the theme of tailoring and chic elegance promoted among many high-end fashion designers for the season, but the look is just as effective.

Women should start with leggings, wearing a long vest or T-shirt on top and completing the layered look with a short jumper or oversized cardigan, perhaps cinching it in at the waist with a skinny belt, the article suggests.

Colours to look out for include navy, blush, grey and stone, it adds.

Women might like to combine these with camel, which has been tipped as the must-have hue of the season.
