03/09/2009
Ladies are increasingly adding leather to their women's country clothing, as it is being seen as an up-market look, an expert asserts.
Oonagh Brennan, Company magazine's fashion director, claims that the material was out in force on the catwalks this year.
She highlights designer Balmain's collection this year, which made heavy use of leather biker jackets, which are also available as items of sheepskin clothing.
The material is both wearable and stylish, she asserts, with tailored jackets forming a key part of the look.
"It's moved up market in terms of the look of it, definitely. It was all over the catwalks and then of course the high street have followed suit and everybody has done it," she says.
Last month, the London Evening Standard's fashion editor Laura Craik claimed that sheepskin coats will be one of the big hits this autumn due to their presence on the catwalk this year.
