Wool knitwear and sheepskin are 'autumn essentials'

Ladies knitwear is set to be a key trend on the high street this autumn, along with garments crafted from sheepskin.

This is according to predictions from the London Evening Standard, which revealed now is the best time to start purchasing essential items for next season.

It stated: "Thanks to a demand for pared-down, fuss-free clothes, the beauty of this new chapter in dressing is its simplicity."

Thick woollen coats in shades of camel are just one example of how to wear this look and the publication also suggested "a host of cutesy knitwear options" will be available.

An alternative is the shearling jacket, which is named as the most sought-after piece of the entire season.
